Olympic Heritage Celebration is Coming to North Tahoe!

The eyes of the world were focused on Lake Tahoe in 1960, as Squaw Valley USA, and the West Shore of Lake Tahoe, played host to the events of the eighth Olympic Winter Games. The positive impact of the Games — locally, regionally, and internationally — has been enjoyed ever since.
During the Games, a true Olympic Spirit was sparked — of cooperation, camaraderie, community and respectful competition. That spirit, and the legacy of the 1960 Olympic Games, lives on today in the communities of North Lake Tahoe.
The Winter of 2010 marks the 50th anniversary of the 1960 Games. Resorts, businesses, athletes, individuals and whole communities are joining together around the region to Share the Spirit and celebrate the legacy of the 1960 Winter Games in North Lake Tahoe during the Olympic Heritage Celebration. The Squaw Valley Olympic Museum has joined forces with Olympic Heritage Committee to develop and execute a joint program for the 50th Anniversary of the 1960 Winter Olympic Games. The 50th Anniversary event program is the official launch of the Capital Campaign for the development of an official Squaw Valley Olympic Museum that will have a presence in both Squaw Valley and on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe. WHAT CAN YOU DO?
The Olympic Heritage Committee is inviting the cooperation, endorsement and participation of individuals, businesses and organizations around North Lake Tahoe. It is our intent to Share the Spirit across the region by joining together to re-ignite the excitement of the 1960 Winter Olympics. Our 2010 celebration will present a calendar of cultural and sporting events in a unified, community-based effort where the Spirit is evident everywhere.
